Computer modeling takes the guess work out of designing our exhibits.

Above is the computer model of our Lunar Landing Simulator. Since it was carefully designed from the Lunar Module cabin blueprints, it accurately models the dimensions of the real LM.

Above right, the resulting simulator follows the computer design precisely, giving you the most accurate and realistic exhibit available.

Our simulators and exhibits are designed using:

  • solid modeling engineering software by SolidWorks.
  • computer aided drafting (CAD) software by AutoCAD.

Parts for our simulators and exhibits are made using:

  • a Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) milling machine.
  • Rapid Prototyping technology for part modeling.
  • full size patterns plotted from the computer model to guide the fabrication of larger parts.

Using computer modeling Historic Space Systems produces parts that fit together precisely, duplicating the dimensions of the actual spacecraft parts. This process enhances the realism and accuracy of the exhibit.
