  • Advanced Flexible Reusable Surface Insulation (AFRSI) blanket from the forward upper section of the Space Shuttle.
  • Part of the Space Shuttle’s exterior thermal protection system.
  • Back of blanket covered with room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) rubber, used as an adhesive to attach the blanket to the Space Shuttle’s outer surface.
  • Detailed photo of RTV shows impressions and green finish which had been applied to rivets on the surface of the Space Shuttle.
  • SCRAP stamps indicate it was not to be used again. Although not so documented, this piece is certainly flown.
