Gemini Ejection Seat Simulation

The Gemini spacecraft used an ejection seat for emergency escape. Operational features of the seat are being computer modeled for future simulations.

  • At left, preliminary computer model of the seat, with many more features to be added..
  • Below, NASA photo of the left seat of Gemini 12 after the flight in November 1966.
  • At bottom, part of the McDonnell Aircraft drawing of the stirrup foot restraints seen at the bottom of the model.

The computer model was made using SolidWorks modeling software. It references fully dimensioned McDonnell Aircraft Gemini engineering drawings. Historic Space Systems uses models such as this to design parts used in exhibits.
